The Annual Downtown Christmas Parade will take on a special meaning for one lucky couple, who will be selected to tie the knot in front of thousands of witnesses aboard the Kern County Bridal Association's Christmas Parade Float live on Thursday December 3rd 2009

The Association, comprised of local wedding businesses, sponsors the entire wedding at no cost to the bride and groom (with the exception of their marriage license). After the live wedding atop the parade float, the couple and fifty of their closest friends and family will enjoy a private cake and punch reception. WHO IS THE GIVE-AWAY OPEN TO:

Anyone who plans to get married between 2009-2011. You must be 18 years of age or older.

WHAT DOES “Christmas as it should be December.... A Wedding To Remember” INCLUDE?

It’s a complete wedding package to be held publicly on a Parade Float in the Bakersfield Christmas Parade December 3rd 2009 5:30pm. The time of the wedding will be between 6 and 8pm the impact of other parade activities will have to be taken into account before a definitive time line is reached. The parade starts at 5:30pm the parade will happen within those hours at a time to be determined.

The winning couple will can invite as many family and friends to the parade as they wish, However the package includes seating for only 2 guest plus the bride and groom. All services will be based on this number only.

There will be 5 days from the announcement of the wedding winners and the actual wedding December 3th. Those will be 5 busy days as we attempt to consolidate months or even years worth of planning into such a small time period. The decorations, invitations and many of the concepts will have been prepared before the entries are even completed; but we will still need time for fittings for the tuxedo plans for the ceremony, planning event, preferred style of hair and makeup, addressing/mailing guest invitations, and more. These appointments may involve groups of the wedding party, not just the bride and groom.

On the day of the event, the bride and groom and their Best Man and Maid of Honor (if applicable) will be whisked away early for dressing, hair and makeup appointments and a quick word with the clergy.

In short, it will be a very public and very unique wedding;

HOW DO YOU ENTER

There is an entry page here online, and one available in our office at 531 H Street in Bakersfield. Simply complete the questionnaire and return it (drop off, enter online or mail) by Wednesday November 20th at 5pm. Our team will evaluate the entries (keeping the information private, of course), and call the top 5 entries back for a personal one-on-one meeting to decide a winner.

Two runner up couples will receive the 3-day 2-night getaway vacation and a VIP ticket package to the next Bridal Show, Weddings 2010, January 25th at Kern County Fairgrounds.

Deadline to apply is Friday, November 20th.
